Aliran Kesedaran Negara

Aliran Kesedaran Negara (Malay for National Consciousness Movement) is Malaysia’s first multi-ethnic reform movement dedicated to justice, freedom and solidarity. Listed on the Roster of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 1987, Aliran has a consistent record of championing democratic reforms.

Guided by universal spiritual values, our struggle focuses on building genuine unity by upholding human dignity and promoting social justice for all Malaysians. To conscientise the public, we publish Aliran Monthly, Malaysia’s leading independent English-language news magazine.

Aliran’s struggle for social justice is guided by a universal spiritual world-view which makes it different from other groups whose foundation is either strictly secular or religious in a sectarian sense.

OHMSI

The vision of Oriental Hearts and Mind Study Institute (OHMSI) is to transform society by communicating truth and genuine concerns through word and deed. Our three pronged strategy is to:

1. Stand up for issues of public interest and to articulate views on behalf of affected Malaysian communities
2. Engage communities to support or initiate action on specific issues relevant to them.
3. Create frameworks for dialogue and engagement where followers of Jesus Christ and members of society become relevant and significant in the public spaces of national life.

Friends in Conversation

Friends-In-Conversation  is a friendship of followers of Jesus who are committed to creating a space for reflective and constructive conversations on faith, spirituality, community and society. We are also in friendship and conversation with people of other faiths, to deepen mutual understanding and appreciation, as a foundation for constructive partnerships in a pluralistic society. We believe that creating a space for such conversations requires the firm foundation of friendship – hence the importance of trust, humility, generosity, affirming speech and emphatic listening in all our engagements.

Islamic Renaissance Front

The Islamic Renaissance Front is an organization dedicated to the promotion of a democratic and progressive appreciation of Islam. Inspired by Qur’anic values of justice and equality, IRF has consistently voiced its opposition to oppressive policies and sentiments, be it in Malaysia or globally.

Our work is rooted to the belief that freedom and equality are core Islamic values. Thus, rather than imposing Islam on others, IRF urges Muslims to strive towards playing a constructive role in ending oppression and making the world a safe and more harmonious place for all.

We believe that discourse is the most crucial method of not only spreading our message but attaining our goal. To that end, we continue to play an active role in Malaysia’s political discourse through our forums, writings and media engagements.

Kota Kita

Kota Kita designs, organises, trains and runs community projects using creative arts. Set up in 2010, Kota Kita is run by a group of mainly art workers and media practitioners. Our mission is to empower and facilitate members of a community towards personal development, and to enrich their relationship with the community through creative mediums. Our most notable project is Projek Chow Kit Kita, a 3-year community mapping project involving the youth living in what is known to be one of the most notorious districts in Kuala Lumpur.
